Roundabout To Be Constructed at Visitation Dr. & Mendota Heights Rd.

The City of Mendota Heights is working with the staffs at The Visitation School and Saint Thomas Academy to increase safety and improve traffic flow at the intersection of Visitation Drive and Mendota Heights Road. The City is proposing construction of a single-lane roundabout at the intersection to calm traffic, and reduce the number and severity of accidents at the intersection. The construction project will require a temporary access point to be provided for The Visitation School from their north parking lot onto Lake Drive. This access point will only be operating for 2-3 weeks during the construction times when Visitation Drive must be blocked off to build the roundabout. The Temporary access is temporary and will be removed when construction of the roundabout is complete. Additionally, traffic will be detoured around the intersection during construction. Signs directing people along the detour route will be in place prior to construction beginning. There will be a Project Update presentation at the September 15th City Council meeting which will begin at 7:00pm at City Hall. There will be an opportunity for the public to see the project plan and to provide comments directly to the Council at the meeting. City staff and the City’s consultant will be providing the project data and technical aspect of the project as well. If there are any questions regarding the project, please call the Engineering Department at 651-452-1850.
