Election Day Registration
Eligible voters can
register and vote on Election Day if they have proper identification.
Any one of the following items can be accepted as sufficient
identification for election day registration:

Valid Minnesota Driver’s License,
Learner’s Permit (or receipt for one) showing your current address in
the precinct.

Valid Minnesota I.D. Card (or
receipt) showing your current address in the precinct.

Tribal I.D. Card with name, address
in the precinct, signature and picture of the
individual.

One form of approved photo ID:
Minnesota Driver’s License, Learner’s Permit, Minnesota I.D Card or
Tribal I.D. Card and a current utility bill* showing your address in
the precinct.

U.S.
passport and a current original utility bill* showing your address in
the precinct.
-
U.S.
military identification card and a current original utility bill*
showing your address in the precinct.
-
Student ID card, fee statement, or
class registration, with current address in the precinct.

Another registered voter in your
precinct who can confirm your residence (vouch).
-
Your registration at a previous
address in the same precinct.
-
Notice of ineffective registration
mailed from the County Auditor.
*An original bill for
gas, electric, telephone (including cell phone), cable television, solid
waste, water, or sewer services is acceptable as an additional proof of
residence if the bill shows the voter’s name and current address in the
precinct. The due date on the bill must be within 30 days of the
Election Day (before or after).
You must re-register if your name or address changes or if you have not
voted in four years.
