City
elections in are held in November of even-numbered years. Candidates
file for Mayor or City Council positions at City Hall not less than
eight and no more than 10 weeks prior to the election. City Council
elections are nonpartisan and candidates run for their seats at large.
National, state and county general elections also are held in November
of even-numbered years. National, state and county primary elections are
held on the second Tuesday in August of even-numbered years.
The
filing period for city offices begins on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 and
ends at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17.
When Are
Elections Held?
The 2010 election dates are as follows:
Primary Election: August 10, 2010
General Election: November 2, 2010
The
2010 elections will include federal, state, city and judicial offices.
City offices up for election include the mayor’s seat and two council
seats.

the city’s precinct polling places as soon as possible after the polls
