The City Council is assisted in its decision-making process by three appointed advisory commissions that work on a volunteer basis. The advisory commissions are the Airport Relations Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission.

When to Apply for Advisory Commissions

The City Council fills all vacancies on advisory commissions in January. The terms begin in February following Council approval. Unless the appointment is to fill an unexpired term on a commission, all appointments are for three years.
